Sometimes referred to as his “Hot Humbucker”, these pickups have an articulate and full sound that offers a robust clean tone and thrives under gain and equalization, maintaining clarity and string definition in all uses. Utilizing CERAMIC 5 and with a high turn count wrapped directly to the magnets, they are a balance of power and tone that was refined by Rick Turner over the decades of the Model 1’s production. The neck pickup is the exact humbucker currently used in the Model 1, and an overwound bridge pickup is based on specifications found among Rick’s notes. The shielded plastic cover and hum cancelling wind offer low noise at all volumes, and the pickups are suitable as a passive pickup or in an active circuit. They are well suited for 6 string guitars as well as 4 string basses.
These humbuckers are shipped with 4-40 screws and springs, and are wired with 4 conductor cable to enable coil tapping, phase, and series/parallel wiring options. The covers are standard size plastic humbucker covers that fit most humbucker routes and mounting rings.
